A 40-year-old parrot is delighted to see his former owner recovering his vision for the first time after a decade in late March.

Shot by Amy Hurst shows her little parrot, shush, bounces her head excitedly and uzzes up with his former boss, Nedra, in a house in Smithfield, Virginia. Hurst told Storyful that this was the first time Boo saw Nedra's face after he was blinded in more than a decade.

Boo lived with Nedra for 20 years earlier in 2024.

Hurst regularly posts the latest information about BOO on her Facebook page, Birds In Dog House, a Virginia-based group that raises young birds by hand, “the focus is on maximizing human/bird relationships.” Credit: By Story by Birds / Dog House
