South Korean police summon Japanese women to kiss BTS members

South Korean police said Friday they were summoning a Japanese woman to ask Jin, a member of the alleged kiss of K-Pop Supergroup BTS, without consent during last year's free hug event.

A police officer who answered the phone at the Songpa police station in Seoul said the woman was asked to appear in court to ask about allegations of sexual harassment. The police department refused to disclose her identity based on privacy.

The station said it started the investigation after receiving an online complaint and refused to provide more details as it was under investigation.

Media reports said that South Korean police were able to confirm the woman's identity with the help of Japanese police. The report said the woman in her 50s refused to appear and question.

On the second day of completing a mandatory 18-month military service in June 2024, Kim Seok-jin’s real name was Kim Seok-jin, who offered fans a free hug at an event in Seoul to celebrate his discharge and the band’s 11th anniversary. It is reported that during the event, 1,000 people participated and a woman suddenly kissed Jin on the cheek. The video footage of the virus shows that Jin obviously looks uncomfortable.

“My lips touched his neck. His skin was so soft,” the woman wrote in an online blog post.

Founded in 2013, BTS has a large number of global supporters who call themselves the “military.” King, 32, is the oldest member of the band.
