After NBA commissioner Adam Silver publicly appealed to LeBron James, an insider revealed how little LeBron doesn’t care.
Silver essentially came out and said that James’ indecision over which team he will sign with next season is hampering the entire 2026-27 NBA schedule.
Brian Windhorst explains that LeBron doesn’t fit into anyone else’s schedule and will enjoy the sweet time that comes with his free agency decision.
“That’s one thing I can say with confidence,” Windhorst said on “NBA Today.” “LeBron doesn’t care about his schedule affecting the league. He’s going to let them wait until he’s in shape and ready to make a decision.”
Late last week, Silver publicly expressed his concerns about the schedule, revealing that the league can’t finalize major TV dates until it knows where the 41-year-old James will play in Season 24.
“I think all politics are local. My thought is, we have to fulfill the schedule,” Silver said at the New York Fever Festival. “We have to complete the schedule, and where LeBron plays will impact the schedule. So I want him to announce early so we can complete the schedule. Because as you can imagine, teams are calling us, networks are calling us, everyone wants to lock in the schedule. That’s going to impact how we build the schedule, opening week, Christmas, etc. So I need him to make a decision.”
Over the past few days, the Miami Heat have emerged as the favorite to sign LeBron.
Pat Riley made his intentions clear, explaining how the Heat “landed the plane” on signing Giannis Antetokounmpo, but hinted, “We also have to land another plane.”
Wimderhorst said: “Pat Riley said, we landed one plane and now we have to land another one. I don’t think he was talking about KCP. I think they landed flight 7 today. I think they wanted to get flight 6 back in service. Pat came out and let everyone know. We’re not done yet. We want to [LeBron]”.
