Disney announces plans for new theme parks in Abu Dhabi

Disney It announced plans to build a new theme park and resort at the company's first location in the Middle East and its seventh park around the world.
The announcement said Walt Disney Company reached an agreement with Abu Dhabi-based Miral to establish theme parks in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
The park is scheduled to be built on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, the island developed by Miral and is already home to several theme parks including World of Ferrari, World of Warner Bros. and World of Sea.
The company said the Attraction will “provide Disney entertainment, themed accommodation, unique dining and retail experiences, and storytelling to celebrate Disney’s legacy and the futuristic and cultural nature of Abu Dhabi.”
Disney hopes to attract tourists from parts of the Middle East, Africa and Asia that are not close to other parks in Florida, California, Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
The company did not give an expected fee for completing a schedule or building the Abu Dhabi park.
The United Arab Emirates has a history of suspected labor abuse, with most of the immigrant labor as well as other human rights issues.
“Immigrant workers continue to face widespread abuse such as wage theft, illegal recruitment and passport confiscation, which put workers in situations where forced labour may constitute,” Human Rights Watch World Report World Report 2025 World Report 2025.
In addition, outdoor migrant workers are “most vulnerable to heat-related diseases and deaths, with “face” protection measures insufficient, the group said.
