Kosar, who was most recently ranked as the Red Wings’ No. 1 overall pick by The Athletic’s Scott Wheeler, has spent the past four years with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. In 123 regular-season games, he had a save percentage of .911, a goals-against average of 2.46, and eight shutouts. In the 2025-26 season, he recorded his best performance to date. He averaged 2.33 goals against, a 0.915 save percentage and five shutouts in 39 regular season games. Khosa is driven into the Mammoth organization and does his best every day.
“I come to the rink every day and do my best and give everything I have to the organization and the city,” Kosar shared. “(Being) a good teammate day in and day out. Supporting my teammates and I just want to win a lot of hockey games.”
Khosa joins a group that is also determined to take the next step. After reaching the playoffs for the first time in Utah’s history, the Mammoths hope to make the 2027 Stanley Cup Playoffs in the franchise’s second season. Their success depends in part on the hard work of Vimelka and Xhosa. However, netminder is excited to grow with this talented team.
“A very, very skilled group,” Cosa said. “There’s also a young team, which is cool, and it’s definitely a cool thing for my age group to be growing up. Obviously, we had a really good year last year and hopefully we can continue to build on that this year.”
