Trent Miner Colorado’s fourth shutout of the postseason and third in the first game came as Colorado defeated Coachella Valley 3-0 in the Pacific Division finals series opener Wednesday night in Palm Desert.
The Firebirds trail 1-0 in the best-of-five series with Game 2 on Friday at Colorado State before the series ends.
Ronny Attard and TJ Hughes A second-period goal gave the Eagles all the offense they needed, and Miner (6-1) did the rest, making 10 of his 20 saves in the third period. Miner improved his postseason save percentage to .958 in seven starts, allowing seven goals on 168 shots.
Tye Fairhaber Colorado scored another empty-net goal with 9.6 seconds left in the game.
Riko Koko (5-4) made 29 saves for Coachella Valley.
