Best Headphones of 2025

Shure Aonic 50 Gen 2: Many of us love Shure's original Aonic 50 headphones, but their medium noise cancellation. Well, the second generation version solves this problem – canceling noise cancellation greatly improves – Shure doubled battery life to around 45 hours (they now have fast charging) and also narrowed the headphone carry case A little bit, though it's still not that compact. These upgrades make the Aonic 50 Gen 2 a top-notch noise-cancelling headphones. Weighing at 334 grams, the Aonic 50 Gen 2s are built to be sturdy, comfortable to wear, and come with exquisite ear cups. They have excellent sound quality, great clarity and clear bass. Shure calls them “Studio headphones”, so the sound profile is pretty neutral, but you can add more bass in the EQ settings in Shure's iOS and Android's Shure Companion App (adding to the spacer settings in the app , slightly expanded SoundStage, but not 't't big).

Beoplay HX by Bang & Olufsen: Bang & Olufsen's Beoplay HX headsets are the successor to the company's H9 series headsets (X is the Roman Numeral 10), and like the earlier H9 models, the HX headsets are priced at $599 (some colors are discounted on Amazon, discounted on Amazon) . That price makes it a direct competitor to the Apple Airpods Max, which weighs 385 grams, and the HX's 285 grams. I don't know if the HX headset is more comfortable than the AirPods Max, but I found that the two models in the comfort department are fairly equal in longer listening classes, and these models do have the usual funky B&O Lambskin covered memory foam foam bubbles earphone. Their sound is perfect for the sound of the AirPods Max – overall, it has a good balance, with depth, well-defined bass, natural midrange (vocal life), and tempting details in the treble.

V-MODA M-200: The V-Moda's M-200 is one of the few wired headphones on this list. Released in late 2019, these clean and detailed ear earphones have excellent bass response, and Cushy earmuffs mean they wear comfortably, too. Roland Engineers' 50mm driver with Neododmium magnet, CCAW voice coil and fine tuning – Yes, V-Moda is now owned by Roland – M ‑ 2000 is a high resolution certified by the Japanese Audio Association. Other V-MODA headphones tend to push the bass a little, but this set has your more neutral profile for Studio Monitor Heper Headpones. They come with two ropes, one of which has a built-in microphone for making calls. If the V-MODA provides lightning or USB-C cable, you can use the headphone jack. Please note that last year V-Moda released M-200 ANC ($350), wireless versions of these headphones include aggressive noise cancellation. They also sound great, but their noise cancellation, call quality and overall feature set don't match the maximum value of the AirPods Max.

Mark Levinson No. 5909 (currently being postponed): These are the first headphones from premium audio brand Mark Levinson, and yes, they do come at $999. They are really good, too. They have a sturdy design that doesn't manage to make you feel heavy (read: they're big but not heavy) and are worn for a long time thanks to their carefully filled and replaceable leather-covered earmuffs and headbands. Read our Mark Levinson No. 5909 Hands-Origin.

Oneodio A10: The Oneodio A10 delivers more than you would expect at a relatively modest price, which is why they are listed in our several best lists. They are built around $90 better than you think and are very comfortable to wear. They have a double hinge design that feels strong and weighs 395 grams, making them the ideal headphones for workouts. They sound surprisingly decent and have pretty good noise (with a slightly audible hiss) through the transparency mode. The battery life of the headphones is also very good. No, they aren't as comfortable as the Bose and Sony's models (who feel a little heavy) and their sound lacks extra clarity, definition of the bass and depth, while more premium headphones tend to offer. They did exceed my expectations, and even the Oneodio logo that was opened on it was a bit fancy and had a nice carrying case.

Technology EAH-A800:Technics Eah-A800 has some old-fashioned vibe – not only the Technics brand, Panasonic has been resurrected in the past few years. Their design is a backwards, but these headphones are comfortable and fold and fold. Although they spent a day or two breaking in, they had strong bass and good details, with strong bass and good details.
