Israel conducts “wide strike” in Gaza

Officials said Israeli forces launched a massive strike in Gaza earlier on Tuesday, which appeared to be the first major attack on the territory, as it began about two months ago in the ceasefire with Hamas.

The IDF said in a telegram before 2:30 a.m. that IT and Israel Security Agency “had extensive strikes on the terrorist targets of Hamas terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip,” adding that more details will be released later.

Since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect in mid-January, the Israeli military has launched a series of smaller strikes in Gaza, which Hamas claims killed more than 150 people, at least some civilians. It has accused Israel of repeatedly violating the armistice agreement by continuing its military operations.

Israel and Hamas are believed to be negotiating the next step in the ceasefire agreement, which will involve the permanent ending of the war, which began with an attack on Israel led by Hamas on October 7, 2023. However, mediators, including the United States, Qatar and Egypt, are very small in the crossing direction on both sides.

This is a developing story.
