He was then excluded from the rest of the game by a “knee sprain” on the left, but further tests found it was an ACL tear.
After the news broke, Irving spoke to fans on an Instagram live broadcast.
“The recovery process has begun mentally, mentally, emotionally. Just want you guys to know I'm fine and I'll be fine. I'll be back. I'll be better. I don't want to question God's work or God's plans.”
He added: “…this is not the end of the story…Don't let anyone tell you to give up…When you fall 9 times, you get up 10. I don't know other strategies, just when you fall, you come back. There's no time to feel sad or feel sad for yourself…I have breathing in my lungs, I'm fine…I love you guys.”
Irving also expressed his gratitude to all the fans who gave him good wishes and messages.
“Just want to jump here and thank my family for the way they did,” Owen said. “Of course, it hurts. It hurts. It hurts at this point.”
Luka Doncic wrote several Instagram stories about Kyrie's injury and said in one of them: “You're going to come back to the stronger Mi Hermano!”
LeBron James said on X, “Pray to Ky” and had some prayer emojis.
Another former teammate of Kevin Love in the Cavaliers also hopes Kyrie is good.
He wrote on X: “Men… are devastating for ky. Love you, my brother and quick recovery. So what you mean for this game!!!”
