Have an Apple Watch? Here's how to ask you to share in the $20 million settlement
Apple Watch users may have money. Apple has agreed to pay a $20 million settlement after a class action lawsuit. If your device qualifies, you will need to file a claim before the deadline to obtain the stock.
The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, claiming that batteries in the first generation, Series 1, Series 2 and Series 3 models could expand within their tight compartments, resulting in failure. Apple denied any misconduct, but still chose to resolve the case.

In a statement sent to CNET, Apple withdrew its claim, stating that the Apple Watch is “designed to be safe and reliable.”

“This settlement applies to buyers of the original Apple Watch, Series 1, Series 2 and Series 3 and is no longer available for purchase,” the company said in a statement. “Although we strongly disagree with targeting these early generations of Apple Watches The model claims, but we agree to settle down to avoid further litigation.”
Are you eligible for Apple Watch payments?
To be paid, users must have an affected Apple Watch model in the United States and report issues related to battery swelling, such as filing a complaint to customer service between April 24, 2015 and February 6, 2024.
How much money can you get?
Users will find that depending on various factors, they will receive different quantities. Compensation will range from $20 to $50, depending on the number of claims filed. WatchSettlement.com says some qualified users will be notified via email or postcard to inform them that they are eligible for class payments.
The Apple Watch Series 3 is one of the models included in the settlement.
How do you file a claim?
Users seeking payment must submit their request through the settlement website by April 10, 2025.
After accessing the “Conciliation Website”, users must find the QR code and scan using the app or built-in camera options. Users can then choose how they wish to get payments: physical checks, electronic checks, ACH transfers or virtual prepaid visas or Mastercards.
For users who have not received notification but still believe they are eligible, a claim can be filed via email.
By accepting settlement payments, Apple customers waived their right to further legal action against Apple's battery issuance.
