Fifty seasons, thousands of sketches and 894 masters (two of whom were murdered in Steve Martin and John Mullaney), and Saturday Night Live Still very powerful. Touted on the red carpet as “the biggest actor party in television history”, SNL50 Promised to be a special show for all specialties, packed with sketches, musical performances and serious sensuality for over three hours, and delivered in most cases.

Many of the sketches from last night can be inhabited with familiarity and love, while also injecting some new energy. Staff workers (including historically greats like Tina Fey and Mulaney) know that nostalgia only takes them too far, so escalating through cameo, crossover and clever jokes is The key to comedy success. But that doesn't mean everything is free of obstacles (living from New York after all), and there are strange people in every good moment. I delved into some of the biggest beats of the night below.

Gao: A new beginning of an old classic

SNL50 Thanks to Paul Simon and Sabrina Carpenter's cute rendition of “The Bondage of Home” starts with the high notes. Simon Saturday Night Livewith George Harrison. “I wasn't born then,” Carpenter quipped. “Neither is my parents.” Despite the age difference of 58, the two singers matched the old singer well, blending the old singer with the new one. It was a nice nod to where the show went and where it continued, it was a wonderful mood that was about to start all night.

Low name: big man, big absence

When the night is full of stars, how many SNL Favorites that cannot be done (or hardly make broadcast). Original actor Dan Aykroyd did not attend, OGS Chevy Chase and Jane Curtin didn't meet until good night. With Laraine Newman and Garrett Morris each getting their own moments, it feels a little strange that there is no one involved. Having said that, perhaps the biggest absence was Bill Hader, who was said to have turned down an anniversary invitation. It's not because he's not there, but because he's not there, but because he's lacking Stefon, Herb Welch or messy neutral game show host Stung. Dana Carvey is also missing – though at least he yells at the dangerous church lady in black.

High: Meryl Streep SNL First appearance

Do you believe Meryl Streep has never been on Saturday Night Live Before last night? It's hard to have the fact that the most accomplished actor of all time didn't delve into the entertainment agency, but Streep dipped her toes into the sketch comedy, which is certainly a promising debut. She plays the mother of Kate McKinnon's chronic alien abductor, and we just say that the apples didn't fall on the tree. Woody Harrelson calls Streep “The MILF” in the sketch, not even the highlight as she goes all out to announce “This Devil Wearing Nada ”In terms of underwear. Street did break a few times, but she played as part of the show like a professional.

Low: Can we complete Domingo now?

Popular Shots: While the sketch certainly hits a crescent worthy of the anniversary show, we need to pause on Domingo. This is The third time Marcello Hernández's character has appeared this season (not to mention Domingo continues on the show) and has quickly grown old. The props from low-key series MVP Sabrina Carpenter make the notes perfectly focus on the keys and deliver “I can't attend the wedding” with an impeccable unremarkable attitude. She, Pedro Pascal and the Bad Bunny – and Molly Shannon Grinding On Bad Bunny – There are obvious highlights, people like Bowen Yang, Andy Samberg, Kyle Mooney and Beck Bennett also laughed at being Scottsdale Bros to get it). With Domingo winning in his own sketch, maybe it's time to forget that goatee and blue blazer.

Gao: Mulaney's musical

The problem with Domingo sketches is that you don't have enough ability to shake everything, which is with the repetitive musical John Mulaney sketches begin with Kenan Thompson, the legendary “Diner Lobster”. SNL50The version of this idea sees the decades that hotdogs and heroin salesman Mulaney bring Ingenues Pete Davidson and David Spade to New York. Maya Rudolph and Adam Driver in their respective heroin and hotdog costumes and sketches built from there, Maya Rudolph and Adam Driver The amazing scene begins. Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte on whether pimps or men in Elmo's costume should dominate Times Square, Jenna Ortega and Kevin Costner inexplicably fell into the middle? Nathan Lane sang “Cocaine and some vodka” on a tune of “hakuna matata?”. Lin-Manuel Miranda clutched Rudy Giuliani and did throw his shot away? Please more.

Low: Half-baked Sinéad O'Connor tribute

Not all the musical elements in the show are excellent. Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard performed the Prince's “Nothing Complot 2 U”, a meaningful song choice. Siné ad O'Connor's song cover remains her most famous record, with O'Connor responsible for the most infamous musical performances SNL History, after singing Bob Marley's War, tore apart the photos of Pope John Paul II. Both Cyrus and Howard did a great job (this is not the first time Cyrus has dedicated his work to the late singer). But the pairing never condensed and felt like a weak tribute, the show paid for O'Connor's dust while she was still alive. Lorne Michaels has recently expressed more positive words about the Irish singer's stunts, but for thirty years after she was slammed for her own performance – too little, too late, isn't it?

High: Weekend update A-Listers

It's like in a normal episode SNLthe weekend update injects some energy and excitement into the key points of the show. The anchors of long-term service Colin Jost and Michael Che and Michael Che sat down on the fort as always, but truly shining guests. Cecily Strong, because you want the girls you didn't talk to at the party to be one of those eternal people SNL The character, and the twists and turns of Bobby Moynihan's drunk uncle's pregnancy are perfect. Both former actors had a lot of laughter at laughter last night, with Fred Armisen and Vanessa Bayer repeating their roles [insert famous person here]Best friend from growing up. They played to the crowd and introduced Seth Meyers, their good friend Lorne Michaels, who could actually be a terrible person, and it's hard to tell Bayer Is it about to break or be good at expressing your doubts? But of course, the update of heavy hitters comes in the form of Bill Murray, who raised the bias of the weekend update host.

There are over three hours of content and a lot to discuss, but you can really add to Adam Sandler’s surprisingly touching anniversary song, or Eddie Murphy-As-As-Tracy's declaration announces leading the four Homo sapiens lifestyles? final, SNL50 Click on those nostalgic notes while browsing the show’s way forward and launching a near-impossible feat of live TV.
