LeBron James remains the biggest name on the free agent market, and while speculation continues about where the four-time NBA champion will play next, Draymond Green believes many still underestimate James’ impact.
The Warriors forward explained that James’ value extends far beyond his performance on the court, highlighting his basketball prowess and the massive financial impact he can have wherever he plays.
“People don’t understand the weight that LeBron James carries,” Green said on The Draymond Green Show. “Despite that, 24 years later, I still don’t think people understand the power and the weight that this guy carries. From a holistic perspective, the economic benefit that he brings to the team, the economic impact that he can have on a city.
“Also, basketball-wise, as long as LeBron James is on the court, A your team has a chance to win. But B, you have to account for him in a big way.”
James has yet to announce where he will continue his career, making him the biggest remaining domino of the NBA offseason.
Every team linked to the future Hall of Famer has been the subject of widespread speculation, with teams hoping his arrival will immediately change their championship prospects.
The Golden State Warriors remain one of the teams in the running for James after his agent, Rich Paul, identified them as one of the teams capable of signing the superstar forward.
A move to the Golden State Warriors would reunite James with old friend Green while creating one of the most accomplished duos in NBA history with Stephen Curry.
This combination would immediately give the Warriors another legitimate chance to compete for an NBA championship.
However, the timetable for James’ decision has not yet been determined. Until then, the league will continue to await the summer’s most important free-agent move.
