Warriors blockbusters team up with LeBron James and Anthony Davis

The NBA offseason hasn’t officially begun yet, but the speculation surrounding the Golden State Warriors has already reached another level.

Multiple league sources indicate the Golden State Warriors are exploring a path that could bring LeBron James and Anthony Davis to the Bay Area.

The plan reportedly is to first acquire Davis and then try to lure James once free agency opens.

“A trade for Davis must include Jimmy Butler, who is expiring on a $57 million contract while recovering from a torn ACL. The Warriors must also include draft capital — they have two future No. 1 picks and four first-round swap rights in any deal,” Kevin O’Connor reports.

“Sources say the Warriors hope adding Davis will help lure LeBron to the Bay Area from Los Angeles when free agency officially opens on Tuesday. The pitch is simple: reunite with AD, team up with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, play for Steve Kerr and chase another championship with a roster of legends.”

However, Washington appears unwilling to move Davis.

“He wants to be here. We want him to be here,” Wizards general manager Will Dawkins said on ESPN’s draft coverage. “We will have formal conversations in mid-August.”

The uncertainty surrounding Butler also remains a major factor.

“If I’m traded, I’m going to be traded. Their job is to win,” Butler said, via ESPN’s Anthony Slater. “Can I help them do that? Yes. If they feel like someone else can help them do it on a quicker timeline than me getting back, then they have to do it. But from now on, I’m here.”
