Montreal Canadiens acquire forward Brett Berard Acquired defenseman from New York Rangers William Trudeau.
The 23-year-old Berard played 41 games with the AHL Hartford Wolfpack in the 2025-26 season, scoring 6 goals and 16 assists for 22 points, and played in 13 NHL games with the Rangers.
Berard scored 25 goals as a rookie with Hartford in 2023-24 and has totaled 40 goals and 53 assists for 93 points in 145 AHL games over three professional seasons.
Berard was selected by the Rangers in the fifth round of the 2020 NHL Draft and has played in 48 career NHL games, scoring six goals and four assists.
Trudeau, 23, played 62 games with the AHL’s Laval Rocket in the 2025-26 season, scoring eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points.
In four AHL seasons with Laval, Trudeau totaled 28 goals and 62 assists for 90 points in 260 regular season games and added three assists in 15 Calder Cup playoff games.
Trudeau was selected by Montreal in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL Draft.
