Colorado Eagles Assistant Coach Kim Weiss Has accepted the position of head coach of the new PWHL Las Vegas expansion team.
Weiss has been with the Eagles for the past two seasons and is only the second woman in AHL history to serve as a full-time assistant coach.
“It is an honor to be a head coach at the highest level of women’s sports and I couldn’t be more excited to join PWHL Las Vegas,” said Weiss. “Most of the things I’ve been through over the past few years were not things I dreamed of growing up because the opportunities just didn’t exist. I’m extremely grateful to the people and organizations that have helped me along the way, especially the Colorado Avalanche and Colorado Eagles.”
Weiss joined the Eagles as a video coach in 2024 and was promoted to assistant coach on January 16, 2026. She serves as a guest coach with the Avalanche in 2023-24 and has worked at the Avalanche’s past four development camps in various capacities. She also serves as an assistant coach for the Trinity College men’s lacrosse program in 2023-24 and has coached the NAHL’s Maryland Black Bears and AAA Washington Pride programs.
Weiss played at Trinity College, serving as team captain as a junior and senior and earning conference player of the year honors in 2010-11. She is a member of the NHL Coaches Association’s Women’s Coaches Development Program.
