Texas Stars re-sign captain Curtis McKenzie Signed a one-year contract with the American Hockey League through the 2026-27 season.

McKenzie will return to the Stars for his 11th season with the organization and 14th season in professional hockey. In the 2025-26 season, he represented the Texas team in all 72 games, contributing a total of 11 goals and 18 assists, scoring 29 points. On March 14, 2026, he scored his 500th career AHL point against Bakersfield, becoming the 101st player in league history to reach this milestone.

“During his 10 seasons with the team, Curtis helped define and shape our team culture through his leadership, competitiveness and commitment to the community,” Texas Stars general manager said. Scott White.

McKenzie ranks second in franchise history in goals (164), assists (237), points (401) and games played (567), behind only current assistant coaches Travis Moran. He also played in 99 NHL games with Dallas.

McKenzie totaled 206 goals and 304 assists for 510 points in 725 career AHL games with Texas, Utica and Chicago. He received the Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial Award as the league’s outstanding rookie in 2013-14 and was selected as the IOA/American Professional AHL Yannick Dupree Memorial Award winner for his work in the local community in 2024-25. He also serves as captain of the Western Conference in the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic.

In the playoffs, McKenzie scored 35 goals and 42 assists for 77 points in 109 Calder Cup playoff games. He was a three-time Calder Cup finalist (2014, 2018, 2019), won the championship with the Stars in 2014, and is one of 23 players in AHL history to play in at least 100 postseason games.
