Akil Thomas Springfield tied the game at 13:44 in overtime in a 4-3 win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the Atlantic Division final Thursday night.
After being eliminated in Game 1, the Thunderbirds trailed 3-0 through 40 minutes and stunned the Penguins with three goals in the third period, the last two of which were scored by Dillon Dube Played with the goalkeeper for the final 3 minutes and 24 seconds of regular time. Georgi Romanov Pulled an extra skater.
Then in overtime, Alexander Kaskimaki Rushing down the left wing, he found Thomas cutting through the middle. Thomas stumbled Harrison Brunick From behind, the puck sailed wide of the sideline, bounced off the end boards, off a sliding Thomas and into the net.
Hugh McGinn He started the comeback with a shorthanded goal 55 seconds into the third period, ending the Penguins’ streak of net goalkeepers. Sergei Murashov 139 minutes and 41 seconds.
Rosen Street Romanov (6-2) had three assists and made 39 saves to help Springfield improve to 4-0 in overtime in the playoffs.
Bill ZonnonHe scored in his first professional game for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for the second straight game. Tristan Broz and Avery Hayes also scored, and Mikhail Ilyin Contributed two assists.
Murashov (4-2) stopped 41 shots on the night.
