Bill Zonnon scored on his professional debut, Sergei Murashov The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins made 24 saves to open the Atlantic Division finals with a 2-0 victory over Springfield on Tuesday night at Mohegan Sun Arena.
The two teams played the second game of a best-of-five series on Thursday.
Zonon, Pittsburgh’s first-round pick (22nd overall) in the 2025 NHL Draft, hit the ball with a backhand Georgi Romanov The deadlock was broken with 10 minutes and 31 seconds left in the second quarter. Zonon joined the Penguins last week after completing his junior season with Blainville-Boisbriand of the QMJHL, where he scored 46 points in 35 games this season.
rookie Tanner Howe At 7:19 of the third period, he stole the puck at the defensive blue line and brought it in from the other direction for his first playoff goal.
Murashov (4-1) now has a .947 save percentage in five postseason starts for the Penguins.
Romanov (5-2) made 23 saves in the loss but has still allowed two goals or fewer in each of his seven starts this postseason.
