Senators Yakomchuk named AHL Player of the Week TheAHL.com

Springfield, Massachusetts … American Hockey League announced today Belleville Senators defenseman Kat Yakomchuk has been selected as Howies Hockey Video/AHL Player of the Week For the period ending March 15, 2026.

Jakomchuk assisted on six goals in two games last week, helping the Senators sweep a weekend visit to Hershey.

Jakomchuk dished out four assists, including three in 11 minutes, in Belleville's 6-3 victory on Saturday night. Then on Sunday, he dished out two more assists in Belleville's 5-2 victory over the Bears and was voted the No. 1 star of the game for the second straight night.

Jakomchuk has 35 points (nine goals, 26 assists) in 47 games for Belleville this season, ranking second among AHL rookie defensemen in scoring. Yakmchuk, 20, a native of Fort McMurray, Alta., was drafted by Ottawa in the first round (seventh overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft and emerged in the Western Hockey League with Calgary, including a 30-goal season in 2023-24.
