Griffins' Shine named AHL Player of the WeekTheAHL.com

Springfield, Massachusetts …American Hockey League announced today Grand Rapids Griffins forward Dominic Shane has been selected as Howies Hockey Video/AHL Player of the Week For the period ending February 15, 2026.

Shane, playing in his first career AHL All-Star Classic, scored five goals in two weekend games for the league-leading Griffins.

Shine begins the week in Rockford, representing Grand Rapids and representing the Central Division in the 2026 AHL All-Star Classic presented by BMO on Tuesday and Wednesday. When the Griffins' schedule resumed, Shane scored twice in Friday night's 4-2 win over Texas and then notched his second hat trick of the season and career in Sunday's 5-0 sweep of the Stars, securing his first 20-goal season in the process.

Shine is set to have a career offensive year in 2025-26, his first season as captain of the Griffins. In addition to scoring 20 goals, the nine-year pro ranked second on the team in points (34) and plus-minus (+22) in 34 games, helping Grand Rapids maintain its best regular-season record in AHL history. The Detroit native has spent his entire AHL career with the Griffins, totaling 95 goals and 123 assists for 218 points in 517 games. He made his NHL debut with the Red Wings in the 2024-25 season, contributing 1 assist in 9 games.
