Springfield, Massachusetts. …President and CEO of the National Hockey League Scott Howson Announced today, the Board of Directors unanimously approved the Cleveland Monsters as host 2027 AHL All-Star Classic.
The 2027 AHL All-Star Classic will include AHL All-Star Skills Competition exist Sunday, February 7, 2027followed by AHL Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Ceremony exist Monday, February 8 and AHL All-Star Challenge that night.
“Cleveland is a historic city anchor in the American Hockey League, and the Monsters are one of our most successful teams today,” Howson said. “We are excited to bring our showcase event to Rocket Arena and the city of Cleveland in 2027.”
The AHL All-Star Skills Competition and the AHL All-Star Challenge will both be held at rocket arena in downtown Cleveland. Rocket Arena continues to serve as a catalyst for economic growth in downtown Cleveland, hosting major national events that bring energy and impact to the city that positively impacts the downtown economy and elevates the city of Cleveland's ability to host numerous national events, including the 2022 NBA All-Star Game, the 2024 NCAA Women's Final Four and most recently the 2025 U.S. Women's National Team Hockey Rivalry Series against Canada.
Cleveland and the AHL All-Star Classic have a long history, with the city hosting the first event on February 3, 1942. The city's hockey history also features during the 1954 and 1957 All-Star Games, when the Cleveland Barons played as opponents in the AHL All-Star Game. This is the first time Cleveland has hosted the modern AHL All-Star Classic, which was first held in 1995.

The historic Cleveland hotel will serve as the official hotel for the AHL All-Star Classic, hosting top talent from around the league and fans visiting Cleveland. The unique location makes downtown Cleveland the focal point of the All-Star Game and provides guests with easy access to and from the Cleveland Hotel and Rockets Arena via the indoor RTA walkway, which will become the “All-Star Classic Trail.”

The AHL All-Star Skills Competition tests the league's top players in seven categories, including “Toughest Shot,” “Fastest Skater,” and “Precision Shot.” The AHL All-Star Challenge pits the league's four divisions – Atlantic, North, Central and Pacific – against each other in a round-robin, three-on-three format.
