Giannis viciously claims to break all-time scoring record

After reaching 21,000 career points, Giannis Antetokounmpo made the wild claim of breaking the all-time scoring record.

Antetokounmpo scored 29 points against the Nets, helping the Bucks end their seven-game losing streak while ranking 42nd on the all-time scoring list.

After the game, the Greek Freak undoubtedly felt good about himself and boldly declared that he would soon become the highest scorer in NBA history.

“I don't think it's six, seven or eight years to be at the top of the scoring charts,” he said. “I think, in my mind, I think it's still four years away — four or five years from now, four and a half years. I think when I'm 35 years old, sitting in this chair, I want to talk about my all-time scoring record. And, I'm going to talk about it being there, not just talking about it being there, because I believe I'm going to do that and that's what I want to do.”

Let’s take a moment to analyze that statement.

It took him 13 seasons to score 21,000 points.

If Giannis plays 82 games per game over the next five years, he would need to average 53.6 points per game to surpass LeBron and become the all-time leader.

To score another 21,000 points, he would need to average at least 30 points in 700 games. Even if he did, he wouldn't score more than LeBron.

Scoring 21,000 points is no easy feat, and in the process, Giannis became the sixth youngest player in league history to do so, behind only Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and LeBron James, adding even more motivation to the two-time MVP.

“First of all, we have to talk about who those guys are, because I just saw those guys,” Antetokounmpo said. “I think this is the GOAT of goats. I don't think there's anyone in this room who disagrees. I don't think there's anyone in the world who disagrees; just to be on this list with them is incredible. Have I accomplished as much as them? I don't think so. Do I have a lot of room to improve and grow and continue to write my own legacy? Yes.”
