Steph Curry explains how his offseason preparation changes into year 17

Steph Curry entered his 17th NBA season and just like his game, his stay-at-top approach has evolved.

The 37-year-old Warriors defender balanced books, a youth camp and a trip to China throughout the summer and developed a tuning plan designed to sharpen him for another tough 82 games. He explained that the program didn't look like it was when it broke into the league in 2009.

“It's developed on trying to improve the efficiency of the work you get and more intentionally considering the way you design in court every day,” Curry said on Warriors Media Day.

Curry now relies on advanced tracking tools that can help him monitor his body and prevent unnecessary wear and tear.

“All these types[s] Curry explains that helps monitor summer output so you are working smarter and entering camp fresh.

As he grows older, his training balance changes dramatically.

Curry pointed out: “The first decade probably was more on the field racing stadium, and now it has actually flipped the 60-40 stadium to the current stadium percentage.”

The results are obvious. Curry has recorded over 70 games for the first time in a back-to-back season since 2017, and even when he pushed to his thirties, Golden State had confidence in his durability.

His numbers are still elite. Last season, Curry shot 44.8% from the field and scored 24.5 points on three-pointers and led the NBA again.

As he enters another year, Curry’s focus is not on reinventing his skills, but on maintaining excellence.

For the Warriors’ franchise cornerstone, evolution is the key to longevity.
