Writer director Zach Cregger's 2022 film The Barbarian is a delightful tortuous horror movie about the drawbacks of short-term rentals. But Keith is not the one Tess needs to worry about. Soon Tess discovers a maze of basement and something (or someone) lives there. That was when the horror began. The movie came to Netflix on June 1.
Jordan Peele's recent career path is far from the sketch comedy world he began, his 2019 film Us is one of several great psychological thrillers he wrote and directs a tribute to classics like Twilight and Alfred Hitchcock. Somehow, until now, there is only one movie on Netflix on Nancy Meyers. (Vacation – You know, that’s the guy who played Mr. Napkin’s Head.) But that’s going to change when the intern arrives this month’s 2015 comedy. Despite performing with Anne Hathaway, Rene Russo and Robert Deniro, the film doesn't have a cultural library of some other Meyers' films, but it's still a super charming thing to do. Deniro plays Ben Whittaker, a retiree who can’t sit, so he finds an intern at a fashion startup run by Hathaway’s character Jules Ostin. At first, he disdained the old man Ben, and the two formed a sweet bond, and Ben became his boss's confidant. (Yes, Jules has a great kitchen in her Brooklyn Brownstone – do you think she won’t?) The intern premiered on Netflix on June 22.
