Pingjing has just teamed up with Discover Puerto Rico, which brings the island’s Zen Soundscape directly to your phone

As someone born and raised in Puerto Rico, I have always believed that the island has a strange rhythm that cannot be replicated. The mix of collapsed waves, breezes in palm trees, and coquí’s unique mating phone calls is more than just noise; for me, it’s the memory and medicine of my soul. Now, a mental health app Calm is bringing it completely to your phone and you can play it repeatedly.
To mark Mental Health Awareness Month, CALS teamed up with Pucess Rico, a destination marketing organization on the island, to release its first ever destination-based audio collection. The library is a sensory experience designed to take root in the spirit of the island when you need to pick me up or just want to keep calm during stressful moments.
The calm X Puerto Rico collaboration includes meditation, breathing, soundscapes and a new sleep story, Puerto Rico's adventures, narrated in English and Spanish by songwriter and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda, a Puerto Rico parent-born songwriter and actor. His voice will take you through the island, from the cobblestone streets of Old San Juan to the bioluminescent bay of Rapagira.
“Recording this sleep story allows me to share the magic of the island in a new way: through its sound, story and quiet beauty that fills every corner. Puerto Rico invites you to slow down, take a deep breath and take a deep breath to rediscover a miracle. I want the audience to feel peaceful and explore themselves for themselves,” Miranda said in a press release.
The audio experience’s content was created with Puerto Rican artists and sound engineers to ensure that the rainforest sounds not only like other rainforests, but also has the unique sound of El Yunque, the only tropical rainforest in the national forest system.
In addition to sleep stories, calming and discovering Puerto Rico has unveiled four audio experiences and breathing bubbles (calm signature animation bubbles), including:
- Two types of meditations: one is through the visualization of El Yunque, and the other is a body scan on the beach.
- Two soundscapes: the sound of El Yunque, an immersive audio experience with natural ambience of native wildlife, lighter rainfall and the lush terrain of rainforests. Another is surfaced, crossing the Tanamá River, a tranquil, meditation drift from one of the quietest rivers in Puerto Rico.
- Breathing Foam: Guided breathing exercises with vieques background sounds of beach.
