CNN's Jake Tapper revealed his upcoming book on Joe Biden's decline in health, including a member of the Biden administration once “shocked” by his behavior at the White House.
Tapper – Previewing the “Original Sin” of Alex Thompson co-authored by Axios, on CNN's “The Lead”, referring to an unnamed cabinet secretary who recalled Biden seemed to be “disorted” and “OUT OUT” during his tenure.
“The staff did something wrong,” recalled a former Biden administration official. “If you’re with him every day and you know it’s a question, why not go and say something to him?”
Tapper said another cabinet secretary pointed out that they did not think the president had “dementia” but realized he was “old man.”
“The president can give you four to six good hours a day,” they said of Biden.
“When he is tired, sloppy is not the right word, but his guard falls.”
Tapper noted last year that Biden officials don’t think they can rely on him to perform their presidency responsibilities 24/7, for example, if an emergency occurs at 2 a.m.
CNN hosts reported that Biden's cabinet secretary and his aides had “no right to contact” or had not seen the former president “for months” once in 2023.
“Others tell us that in some meetings, Biden will be vague and the public only has a glimpse of that.”
A Biden spokesman said in a report by Tapper and Thompson that the former president’s team continues to “wait for any place that shows where Joe Biden must make a presidential decision or where national security is threatened or that he cannot do his job.”
“In fact, the evidence shows the opposite. He is a very effective president,” the statement continued.
The book is reportedly accused of Biden of covering up his situation before exiting the campaign last year – an investigation reportedly explored that Biden once had at least two officials confused and that the former president failed to recognize his friend George Clooney during a fundraising campaign in June 2024.
