FBI Head Kash Patel doesn't take his job seriously as he skips the morning newspaper and often participates in UFC fights
There are concerns that FBI Director Kash Patel isn’t taking the job as seriously as he should have, reportedly reporting a normal briefing schedule and spending a lot of time hanging out with celebrities at sports events.
Directors of the bureau usually attend daily meetings at 8.30 a.m., during which they will briefly provide the most important intelligence and law enforcement information, organized by thousands of analysts.
On Wednesday afternoon, FBI owners also usually hold secure video conference calls with leaders of the National Field Office to share information about bureau priorities.
However, sources told NBC News that unlike his predecessor, Patel has moved daily morning briefings to just two days a week. Sources — two current direct knowledge officials and two former FBI and Justice officials — said he also stopped meetings on Wednesday.

Sources said his behavior raised concerns that he did not take his position seriously, adding that those working at the Daily Morning Post were told that the schedule had changed because Patel sometimes failed to arrive on time.
Patel posed for photos with his boss Donald Trump and other celebrities at various events including the UFC. He is a clear fan after previous reports that he recruited coaches from the UFC to enhance the agent's martial arts and self-defense skills.
According to flight logs reviewed by NBC News, Patel appears to have flew three flights on an FBI plane to Nashville, Tennessee, where his girlfriend lives, two flights to Las Vegas and flights to New York, where he competed in hockey games and filmed a hockey game with NHL Legend Gretzky.
A spokesman for the FBI declined to comment on whether the six media reported travel involved work activities, but said all ethics were “strictly followed.”
Patel reportedly changed the schedule of the FBI directors' daily morning newspaper, down to only a few per week. NBC reported that he also had a Wednesday afternoon conference call with the FBI Field Office (Copyright 2025 AP. All rights reserved.).
A spokesman for the FBI said in a statement to the Independent: “The meeting schedule has been changed to Tuesday/Thursday for a large group, and Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday for a smaller group of operations.
“These changes are based on feedback from bureau staff, not because of schedules or schedules.”
A spokesman also denied NBC News that Patel had arrived at the meeting.
Officials also told the media that weekly conference calls were canned due to an “attempted leak”, which led to a series of national news reports, but added that Patel often spoke to the on-site office.
