Asa Newell jumps to 2025 NBA Draft

Georgia’s outstanding freshman Asa Newell has officially announced his participation in the 2025 NBA Draft, according to his agency at Excel Sports Management. The 6-foot-10 striker is a major contributor to the Bulldogs' successful season, making his first return to the NCAA Championship since 2015. Newell's decision to turn around was after a great freshman campaign, where he averaged 15.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game.
Newell's impressive performances included a career-high 26 points and 11 rebounds in his debut game, helping Georgia win. He also recorded seven doubles throughout the season, showing his all-around game. His floor stretching ability was obvious when he scored 26 3-pointers and converted 75% of free throws, although his 29% shooting from outside the arc was still a point of progress for the NBA Scouts.
One of the highest recruits in Georgia's history, Newell arrived from Montverde Academy with a five-star prospect and quickly succeeded in the SEC. His combination of scale, mobility and work ethics has led him to win the first round forecast in the upcoming draft, rankings that tie him to No. 10. The Scouts have attracted particularly his athletic, versatility and rebounding abilities, although he needs to perfect his shooting and defense to play a long-term role in the NBA.
Newell's decision to enter the draft marks the end of an influential single season in Athens, where he left behind a legacy of leadership and growth. With the NBA draft combination scheduled for the draft in May and June, he hopes to take the next step in his basketball journey, everyone will be watching Newell.
