16-year-old boy stabbed to death in Huddersfield town center murder investigation
A 16-year-old boy has been investigated for murder after being stabbed to death in a wide sunlight in the center of a busy town.
West Yorkshire police said the teenager suffered severe neck injuries after an attack on Rumsden Street in Huddersfield at around 2.45 p.m.
The 16-year-old boy later died in the hospital due to injuries. A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
A 22-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were also arrested on suspicion of assisting the criminal.
Today, the force warned of misinformation circulating on social media (particularly X), involving the circumstances of the incident and the race of the person involved.
Police urged people not to speculate and said the stabbing had nothing to do with “any broader dispute between the teams” or was not related.
“This is a tragic incident, with a young man killed by a knife wound,” said Damian Roebuck, chief inspector of detectives.
“We have a dedicated team of detectives who are investigating the deadly attack on the spot. Our preliminary investigation does show that it is an isolated incident and local neighborhood officials are on a reassuring patrol in the area.
“I would like to thank those witnesses who have come forward and urge any witnesses or information that can help us ask, please stand up.”
