The Xbox mobile app is about to become more powerful. Xbox announced Wednesday that iOS and Android users will be able to buy games from the Xbox app, subscribe to game passes and more soon.
“The Xbox app will display a purchase button on the game details page, allowing [players] Buy games and add-ons,” Xbox wrote online.
Beta testers on iOS and Android will first access this Xbox mobile app feature, while other mobile users will be able to purchase Xbox games on their phones through mobile apps – meaning my bank account is currently secure.
You will be able to buy games from the Xbox mobile app soon.
However, Xbox says remote playback (which allows you to play games saved on the console on other devices) is no longer accessible in the Xbox app. However, you can still access remote playback from a mobile browser on your smartphone, and the company brings the feature to supported Samsung smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV devices, and Meta Quest HadeSets.
Xbox also announced Game Pass Ultimate Subscribers can transfer more games to the Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles via Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta). For this, go My Games and Applications On your console, select Complete library and then Games owned. The cloud play game will have a small cloud badge on the game's details page.
And I know what you're thinking: “Can't I stream some of the games I have to the console?”
Not exactly. When Xbox announced in November that the ultimate game pass subscribers could stream some of the games they own, subscribers could only stream those games to some devices, such as the featured Samsung TV and Amazon Fire Devices, as well as Meta Quest 2, 3 and Pro.
