Pelicans forward Javonte Green vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

Pelicans forward Javonte Green agrees to a contract acquisition and intends to join his fourth NBA team in six seasons after signing with the Cavaliers after clearing the waiver.

Green entered the league in the 2019-20 season and played for the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls and Pelicans.

Shams said: “The expected deal gives the Eastern Best Cavaliers an additional wing depth, which is after they landed De'Andre Hunter forward from the Atlanta Hawks to compete for Caris Levert, Georges Niang, future Second round picks and swaps before deadlines.”

In his last game of New Orleans before the All-Star break, he played 34 minutes, winning nine points, seven rebounds, two assists and five steals against the Kings in an overtime victory. Green plays Zion Williamson on the break.

Green joined the Pelicans as a free agent in August and averaged 5.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 50 games, with the team having 18 games this season.

He has been a secondary contributor throughout his career, averaging 5.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.7 assists in 245 games.

The Cavaliers want to be ranked No. 1 seeds in the Eastern Conference as they beat the defending champion – the Celtics 5.5 games.

If the player gets injured in the back end of the season, the green will surely provide some playable depth and some cover.

When Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland and Evan Mobley get the opponent's defensive attention, he may also be able to take advantage of those spacings at Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland and Evan Mobley.
