Trump demands 100% tariff on foreign movies

The film is the new focus of the Trump administration campaign that aims to impose tariffs on industries from technology to textiles and beyond.
In a social media post Sunday night, President Donald Trump said the U.S. film industry is “fast death.” He wrote that he is authorizing 100% tariffs, “all movies and all movies made on foreign land.”
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick quoted the president and replied: “We are working hard.”
Trump’s latest tariff call raises many questions about movies and potential TV shows, and whether tariffs will affect future releases or movies already on the market and on streaming services. One example is the successful Minecraft film, which was mainly shot in New Zealand. Film studios often shoot with the help of state incentives. It is almost certain that tariffs affect foreign-made films, such as the Oscar animated films from Latvia.
As Hollywood Reporter and others have pointed out, it is unclear how it affects streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, such as the potential impact on subscriber fees and what these services offer. Only among Netflix's overseas hits on Netflix, there are Squid Game and The Crown.
