Four current American Hockey League skaters have been named to Latvia's roster for the men's ice hockey championship at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina next month.
forward Danse Rockmelis Providence Bruins, Edwards Tramack Grand Rapids Griffins, Sandys Vermanis Charlotte Checkers and Alex Matek The Hershey Bears were all drafted to play for their home countries.
Rockmelis has 12 goals and nine assists in 30 games this season as a rookie with Providence after making his professional debut late in the 2024-25 season.
Tramax has 14 goals, 18 points and a +15 rating in 31 games with Grand Rapids.
After helping the Checkers reach the Calder Cup finals a year ago, Vermanis is tied for Charlotte's scoring lead with 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists) this season.
Matekko had one goal and four assists in 25 games with Hershey.
Latvian team has AHL alumni on roster, including goaltender Artus Sirovswho is the most valuable player in the Abbotsford Canucks 2025 Calder Cup playoffs, and Kaspars DougavinsIn 2011, he won the Calder Cup with the Binghamton Senators.
