LA28 announces Dodger Stadium in new 2028 Olympic venues

On Tuesday, with the list of Dodger Stadium and Alametos Beach, LA28 has almost completed its full location plan for the 2028 Olympics.

The organizing committee announced an updated venue plan on Tuesday, with all but two events being revealed as the Olympics approached in less than three and a half years. The International Olympic Committee approved the master plan last week, with about half of the activities remaining in Los Angeles, gathering in three major hubs.

“The program brings the game to every corner of our city, never like it is now – from the Sepulveda Basin to the iconic coast of Venice Beach, our world-renowned community and our hidden gems will be displayed with all heart for everyone to experience and enjoy,” Mayor Karen Bass said in a statement. “When we get together to prepare, we will help small businesses, create local jobs and implement lasting environmental and transportation improvements that will make our city heritage legacy for generations.”

In the heart of downtown, baseball joins the boxing match, which will be held in the finals of the Peacock Theatre and Crypto.com Arena. The Lakers and Kings’ downtown home will also host rhythmic gymnastics, with a previously announced move bringing major sport for the Summer Olympics to host cities, after the initial plan was inserted at the forum in Inglewood.

Rhythmic gymnastics were added to the Expo Park cluster at USC Galen Center on Tuesday, which will also host badminton. The third La Olympic Hub in the Sepulveda Basin officially added 3×3 basketball and modern pentathlon on Tuesday and will be held at the Entertainment Center, which will host BMX and skateboarding.

“We have assured the world an incredible Olympics and today we are honored to share this program that will achieve that,” LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover said in a statement. “Los Angeles is the center of sports, culture and entertainment activities, and every venue selected for the 2028 Olympics will provide the best experience for athletes and fans.”

All five new sports proposed by Los Angeles Games now have venues as Pumpkin makes its Olympic debut in Universal Studios. In its first Olympic Games since 1900, cricket will be held at Fairgrounds in Pomona. Softball will be in the first game since 2008, and will be held in Devon Park in Oklahoma City, a 13,000-seat stadium that hosts the Women’s University World Series each year.

After Los Angeles, Long Beach will be the second city to Bowkou with 11 disciplines, an emphasis on adding beach volleyball at Alamitos Beach on Tuesday. The popular sport was originally held near Santa Monica’s iconic dock, but years-long talks between LA28 and Santa Monica are as IOC deadline approaches last week’s executive board meeting.

Other last-minute changes brought equestrian sport back to Santa Anta, which hosted the Olympic Games in 1984. The 242-acre facility was approved by the Los Angeles City Council in March, but was cancelled the day after it received the IOC-approved master plan for LA28 at a closed meeting on April 9.

Long Beach will be used for marathon swimming and sailing competitions at the 2028 Summer Olympics.

The main goal of the program is to not create a new permanent structure, maximize the host city in Los Angeles, and try to gather activities into sports parks to alleviate logistical problems.

Although Huntington Beach is a possible destination for beach volleyball, the sport's location on Long Beach is a little bit off of 10 other activities, including coastal boating in the waterfront, target shooting at the conference center and sport climbs in the conference center parking lot, with a temporary pool that will accommodate water polo and art swimming. The city hosted several events at the 1984 Olympics, including sailing, which will return to the Belmont Coast in 2028.

Venice Beach takes over the triathlon host in Long Beach and will also be the starting point for marathons and road cycling.

The latest plan is to place archery in Dignity Health Sports Park, which has hosted rugby games. Tennis, track and field cycling and hockey are also available in the surrounding area.

Orange County will have two sports as the Honda Center in Anaheim will accommodate indoor volleyball and surfing will be held at Trestles Beach in San Clemente.

The only venues that have not been publicly confirmed are football preliminary and mountain biking. Similar to the format of the recent Olympic Games, the football group stage game is expected to be held at stadiums across the country before returning to the Rose Bowl to win medals.
