We want to charge fees on ships related to China and push allies to do the same

Story: Any ship built or marked in China faces fees when it comes to US docks

This is based on the draft executive order that Reuters saw on Thursday.

More importantly, orders require allies to do the same thing, or risk revenge.

The United States also plans to impose tariffs on Chinese cargo handling equipment.

It is part of the Trump administration's action to restore domestic shipbuilding and abandon China's control over the wider maritime sector.

The order says U.S. national security is threatened by “unfair trade practices in the maritime, logistics and shipbuilding sectors.”

Reuters first reported that according to the facts that came with the order, such plans came a day ago.

Last month, the U.S. Trade Representative's Office proposed to charge up to $1.5 million for Chinese-made vessels entering U.S. ports.

This is an investigation into China's domination over global maritime and logistics operations.

On Thursday, Trump praised French transport giant CMA CGM for investing $20 billion in the United States

The company said it will expand existing container ports and create 10,000 jobs.

But CMA CGM has a vessel sharing agreement with Chinese freight company Cosco and says any expenses for Chinese-made vessels will hit every company in the industry.
