Hamas said it had handed over the body to the Red Cross, which it claimed was Israeli hostage Shiri Bibas.
Israeli forensic tests showed that a body was handed over Thursday – Hamas said it was Shiri Bibas's body – not an Israeli mother, but another unidentified woman.
Israeli medical authorities say they are preparing for identification tests on their bodies.
The IDF said it is in contact with the Bibas family.
Senior Hamas officials confirmed to the BBC that the handover of the new agency took place Friday night.
Israel earlier accused Hamas of breaking the terms of the ceasefire agreement after forensic tests showed Shiri Bibas's body did not break the terms of the ceasefire agreement after being handed over to Shiri Bibas's body on Thursday.
The bodies of her sons Ariel and Kfir Bibas were sent back to Israel, and the other hostage, oded lifschitz, was also sent back to Israel.
Hamas claims the children and their mother were killed by Israeli bombs without providing evidence.
Hamas spokesman Ismail al-Thawabta said in a post on X that the remains of Shiri appeared to be mixed with other bodies under the rubble after the air strike.
