Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday that U.S. President Donald Trump lives in “disinformation” made in Russia due to discussions between the government and Kremlin officials.
Zelenskyy said he “hopes Trump's team to be more real”. He commented shortly before meeting with Russian envoy Keith Kellogg, who arrived in Kiev on Wednesday.
Kellogg will meet with Zelenskyy and military commanders as the United States shifts its policy from years of trying to isolate Russian President Vladimir Putin. U.S. and Russian diplomats met in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, with situations in Ukrainian and European officials occupying the talks.
Trump suggested on Tuesday that Kiev should blame the war, which will enter its fourth year next week. The full-scale invasion of Russia began on February 24, 2022.
“You've been there for three years,” Trump said in a comment to reporters on Tuesday, referring to fears that Ukraine will be excluded from talks between Russia and the United States
“You should never start. You may have reached an agreement,” Trump said.
Trump's comments also bothered some European officials.
