AHL joins NHL, NHLPA in Hockey Fights Cancer Celebration | TheAHL.com

Springfield, Massachusetts …The NHL is proud to once again join the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players Association in their Hockey Fights Cancer™ Powered by V Foundation Sponsored by AstraZeneca The month of celebration begins today.
The event, which has been working to unite the hockey community since 1998 and support cancer patients and their families, will feature special events, commemorations and stories from people in the hockey community. This year, 23 AHL member clubs designated a home game as “Hockey Against Cancer Awareness Night” and were given the opportunity to provide lavender jerseys, dashboards, tape, helmet decals and “I Fight for This” cards. AHL and its team also provide support to multiple local cancer hospitals, clinics and advocacy groups.
Fans can get involved by sharing their stories using the official hashtag #HockeyFightsCancer or donate online HockeyFightsCancer.com. In addition, donations raised will continue to support chapters of the American Cancer Society and the Canadian Cancer Society in the United States and Canada, providing accommodation, meals, transportation, activities and emotional support to hundreds of cancer patients and their families every day.
