Honorary mention
We've tested some products that we like but don't like, and it's still worth mentioning if you're considering them.
Boring Mixed Mattress for $799: Boring Mattress is a new company founded by two alums from Tuft & Needle. Simplicity is the company's selling point. There is only one option: boring hybrid mattress. (You can choose a size.) This 10-inch hybrid car has four layers of foam and springs. I'm very sensitive to joint pain and certain beds tend to make things worse, which is why stress relief is very important to me. I've been sleeping on all kinds of different mattresses over the years and I doubt this will work. But I've been sleeping on a mix mattress for a few months and have no pain at all. It strikes an excellent balance between firmness and support, and my special self cannot find any other choice in the market. It is worth noting, however, that its layers are equipped with an open design designed to move heat from the body while sleeping. I'm usually very cold, so this feature doesn't matter to me. But on the night when I cheered up and woke up in the room, I can’t say it was good for me. This is not a deal-breaker, but I won't just buy it. – Brenda Stolyar
Airweave premium for $4,500: The unique Airweave Advance (8/10, wired recommendation) is a great choice for anyone who wants to move and clean easily and prefer a sturdy mattress. Designed by Japanese engineers, inspired by tangled fishing lines, it comes with blocks made of unique ultra-fine braided polyethylene. My extra-large tester comes with three fillers that can be combined inside the lid, each filling weighs less than 40 pounds. I was a large side sleeper and prefer a slightly softer bed, but during the testing week, I fell asleep nicely. Please note that Airweaves is very expensive, with the Queen being priced at $4,500.
Casper is $599: Casper was the first wave of the first wave of bed manufacturers in 2014. The company has changed ownership and design several times over the past decade, but the company launched last year found the company staying in sync with its competitors. This is a full foam mattress that is 11 inches tall. Because it's all foam, it's in the light and the Queen's weight can easily move 66 pounds. One of the main problems with full foam beds is that they are too hot, but Casper uses an open foam layer called “Breathing Ammo Foam”, which makes it both pleasant and breathable. The other two layers of foam add up to a medium-secure feel, the middle layer is designed to shake the hips, while the bottom layer is designed to provide support.
The Nolah Evolution 15 costs $1,624:: The Nolah Evolution 15 is a large, sturdy and sturdy bed made of high-quality materials, which is more like a traditional luminous mattress than most hybrids. It felt like a balloon stuffed with boxes that took two full weeks to break. It has seven layers, including a full inch of high-density foam and a layer of heavy duty 13.75-weight bagged coils.
The blink price is $1,499: Critic Julian Chokkattu has been sleeping in the luxury company version of The Blink, for nearly two years, when he was very happy. His favorite benefit? The edge support is great so his partner never wakes up when he slides into bed late at night. The plush pillows also add a luxurious hotel-like feel to the relatively firm bed.
$1,039 for nest bed quail: When it comes to the classic bed boxed brand of all-foam mattresses, I prefer the Casper above to pay for more. My biggest problem with the nest is that, despite its claim to its cooling system (the foam is infused with minerals and designed with airflow), I did sleep a little on it during the week of testing.

Helix Sunset Elite priced at $2,999: Our preferred Helix also has an elite series that consists of seven mattresses along the softness. It's the 16-inch tall “the tallest mattress on the internet” and shipped out in two separate boxes, each heavy enough to meet FedEx's requirements to the greatest extent. The firmness depends on the foam density of the upper layer, which pulls it into a larger support system. If you end up regretting your order, this makes the mattress adjustable. There are two separate micro-oil layers at the bottom. I spent a month sleeping on the softest model of the Elite Line, known as the Sunset, and enjoying the deep cradle effect. Helix offers a 100-day trial on all of its mattresses.
Linenspa 10-inch hybrid mattress for $300: You will spend a third of your time on the mattress and if you have more than $300 spent, you should. If you don't do this, or you need a cheap temporary bed for some reason, the 10-inch LinensPA is as cheap as a hybrid and is very useful in my weeks of testing. You may notice that there are some smaller manufacturing defects on this bed, which are made in Macedonia. If you dig into over 100,000 Amazon reviews, you'll also see some complaints about its durability.
Wayfair Sleep 14-inch Plush Cooled Gel Mixed Mattress for $405: This plush mattress has a cooling gel on the top to keep it comfortable with your body and has classic pocket coils structured and supported underneath with a layer of memory foam with varying thicknesses surrounding the coil to provide additional support (coil and memory foam mixture helps to also have low motion transfer). The braided cover and sides on the top contribute to breathability and overall cooling. The mattress is also compatible with an adjustable bed foundation, with solid edge support, is Certipur-US and Oeko-Tex certified (make sure there are no harmful toxins), and comes with a 10-year warranty. If you prefer a more luxurious mattress, this bed is very comfortable.
Mattresses should be avoided
You should avoid some models. Many of these beds are very affordable and they may feel good if you are not picky. In other cases, the mattress is good, but the price is not quite good.
Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt, priced at $2,199: Tempur-Pedic is one of the most famous and favorite mattress brands in the country, but neither two independent wired critics (Martin Cizmar and Nena Farrell) like different mattresses from the past two years. Nina finds Tempur-Adapt completely lacks support, and feels like she is indulging while lying on it. Her spine and muscles were all painful after sleeping, so she handed it over to her sister, who also hated it, describing it as if it was sleeping on a leaking air mattress.
Magniflex Magnistretch 12 priced at $3,079: This mattress is made in Italy and promotes itself as a spine. It has been recognized by retired Italian footballer Giorgio Chiellini and current professional basketball player Stefano Tonut, who plays for the Boston Celtics' Italy. OK, Magniflex certainly does something For the spine, though I found it very unpopular. (It is worth noting that I yes no The same Martin Cizmar who played a professional football game in Slovakia. ) I only lasted for two nights when I was majestic, and then cried my uncle and lim to the next tester. The morning feels like I'm sleeping in a hammock made of chain fences and my lower back feels weak and squeaky – probably stretched, if so, it turns out I don't like having my back stretched.
Sleep number 360 Smart Bed, priced at $7,999: This bed (5/10, wired review) can be controlled by temperature, which is amazing. The adjustable base means you can be comfortable while watching TV, reading or sleeping. Unfortunately, there are too many numbers on the price tag, and sleep experts recommend avoiding electronic use before going to bed to help Sleep IQ app violations. Did we mention that it costs as much as a second-hand Buick and not much weight?
Amazon Basic Mattress Price is $408: This is made of cheap foam, not thick enough, causing too much sinking.
$2,400 Parachute Eco Comfort Mattress: This mattress doesn't reach its luxury price. There were not enough properly filled coils above the model we tested.
How strong or soft should your mattress be?
The biggest decision to buy a mattress is how to make it. Usually, heavier people and back sleepers or stomach sleepers do better on a firmer bed, while lighter people and side sleepers prefer softer. Temperature is also a problem: As your body is immersed in fabric and foam, the softer mattress sleeps warmer. Remember that all mattresses have a break-in period, and the feeling of mattresses on your first night will not be a week or two later. It is also worth considering that if you buy a sturdier mattress and want to soften it, a mattress is a great choice – we have the best guide, but to make a soft mattress firmer.
What size of mattress should you buy?
The prices in our guide are based on large sizes, which is the most popular scale in the United States. But everything we include comes in a variety of standard sizes, usually standard twins, twin XL, Full, Queen, King and California King. You need to buy it according to the size of the bed frame.
Can you set up a bed frame yourself?
Take it from people who have handled it over the past year with dozens of people: FedEx delivered bed mattresses are relatively easy to handle. Most of these mattresses are vacuum sealed and rolled up. Some are heavy – up to 150 pounds – If you order one of them, make sure someone is there to help you. Once you unfold the bed on the bed and cut the vacuum bag, it will immediately start to expand, so take it apart, so take it apart. We have a useful guide on how to set up the mattress you purchased online and more tips. Mattresses can usually be ready within a few hours, but most manufacturers recommend giving them two days to reach their normal condition.
What if you don’t like the mattress you bought online?
Most draft picks we have tested and recommended have at least 100 nights of testing and a 10-year warranty. Be sure to check the company’s policies before purchasing, as you may charge a nominal return fee. A few days before the return deadline, remind yourself for a final assessment.
Should you buy hybrid or full foam?
Old-style mattresses are made of springs, with a thin layer of foam and cloth that usually sit on the spring. On the other hand, the mattress on the bed is foam or hybrid with a built-in spring. (I have never tested one that requires a spring box.) We tend to recommend hybrids because they are more stable and supportive and usually stay cool because the springs leave room for airflow. Hybrids are usually slightly higher than slightly higher. Foam mattresses tend to be softer, lighter and cheaper.
