AHL Power Ranking: Laval Rockets to Top

Throughout the regular season, Patrick Williams offers a weekly Flohockey AHL Power ranking, listing all 32 teams.

The Laval Rockets pushed the Texas star to No. 1 in this week's AHL Power Ranking. Check out your favorite teams’ rankings by power and follow them throughout the season to see how your club goes up or falls. You can also view the full AHL ranking here to see how it compares to our power rankings.

1) Laval Rocket (+4)

The Rockets went to Toronto for back-to-back games and left with four points. Additionally, they did this without AHL All-Stars Owen Beck and Logan Mailloux, who recalled with the Montreal Canadiens. Now they are back with the Rockets. Connor Hughes-Cayden Primeau's goalkeeper title is excellent against a team of Laval with seven straight wins. Head coach Pascal Vincent prepares the team for stretch drive.

2) Texas Star (-1)

The stars can easily take care of Rockford in two matches at Heb Center. There are more points on the table, and two games head to Manitoba. The star has won 10 of the 10 games in the last 11 games and has played two games in Manitoba to end 2024.

3) Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (-)

For the Penguins, one-third of all Pinestania (All-Pennsylvania) leads, and the Penguins continue to thrive in order to win whatever way they need to win. They can lock it up (two armistice in the last five games) or play the final champion like they did last Saturday from a 4-1 victory over Cleveland to a 5-4 overtime victory.

4) Rochester American (+3)

Each start, Devon Levi looks like a goalkeeper who can lead the team into the Calder Cup. Sunday's home court with Laval should be a treat. Like Vincent, first-year head coach Mike Leone has brought his club together. One question: With the battle for Buffalo Saber, what could this mean for the March lineup migration that could impact the Amerks?

5) Calgary Wrangler (-3)

Considering that the Wrangler is the third head coach of the season, a stumbling block at Red Haster Henderson last weekend could happen. Long-term AHL captain Brett Sutter, who retired after last season, with Joe Cirella (ophthalmology) and Trent Cull (with Calgary Flames) )stand out.

6) Colorado Eagles (+7)

The Eagles are back in the top 10 again and given the team can launch talent when they go all out. They played against Canucks after three quarters of Abbotsford vs. Abbotsford this weekend. Matthew Phillips is back in the dangerous way and heats up the push in February and March in time.

7) Toronto Maris (-1)

After a 7-2-0-1 road trip, Maris returned home last weekend to play Laval at home. Not ideal, but they are hardly the first team to fail on home ice after spending weeks on the trip. Another visit to the home and partner with Belleville and the Rockets should be a great way to revive Marlies this weekend.

8) Hershey Bear (-4)

Head coach Todd Nelson brought a lot of belts to the Bears, but he finally reached his limit last Saturday night after Syracuse lost 5-0. Whether it's a mid-season break, two long Calder Cup playoffs, or something else, the Bears are still a long way from looking like a team that can play another title . Their 10 road trips for the franchise record in March are getting bigger, especially if they can’t store points on their February schedule.

9) Ontario Rule (-1)

Domination weekend was lighted up with one game, with only one game, losing 5-4 overtime to San Diego on the Family Ice. Erik Portillo has allowed 46 goals in the last two games.

10) Providence Brown Bear (+4)

Utica was on Providence Home’s schedule twice in the next week and a half. These comets look like they are overthrowing, but they are in good shape lately. P-bruins were swept by comets earlier this season with comets, a time when comets barely appeared from their catastrophic beginnings. Providence must be careful.

11) Cleveland Monster (-)

12) Charlotte chess piece (-)

13) Coachella Valley Firebirds (+4)

14) San Jose Barracuda (-)

15) Abbotsford Canucks (-)

16) Admiral Milwaukee (-)

17) Bakersfield Condor (+2)

18) Chicago Wolf (+2)

19) Grand Rapids Griffin (-10)

20) Springfield Thunderbird (+4)

21)Lehigh Valley Phantoms (-3)

22) Syracuse Tightening (-1)

23) Senator Belleville (-1)

24) Henderson Silver Knight (+4)

25) Comet Utica (+2)

26) Rockford Icehogs (-1)

27) Tucson Passerby (-4)

28) Hartford Wolf Pack (-2)

29) San Diego Seagull (+1)

30) Iowa Wild (-1)

31) Manitoba Moose (-1)

32) Bridgeport Islanders (-)

Among the top ten: Grand Rapids Griffins
