Luka Doncic's historic March rewrites Lakers record books

Luka Doncic is finishing a game that will long be remembered in Los Angeles.

In the Lakers' victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, Doncic once again posted a dominant performance of 42 points and 12 assists, continuing his historic performance throughout March. But beyond the statistics, it was the milestone behind it that captured the attention of the entire league.

Doncic surpassed Kobe Bryant to become the highest-scoring March in franchise history, finishing the month with more than 600 points. In the process, he also had a rare moment alongside Michael Jordan, the only player in NBA history to reach that mark this month when he scored 676 points in 1987.

Running itself is relentless. Doncic has scored at least 30 points in 13 consecutive games, including 3 consecutive games with more than 40 points.

This form not only makes him a hot topic for MVP, but also makes the Los Angeles Lakers one of the most dangerous teams heading into the playoffs.

However, for Doncic, personal honor takes a back seat to the overall situation.

“Absolutely. I mean, if you don't win, it really doesn't mean anything,” Doncic said after the win over the Cavaliers. “I mean, what we've been doing is really significant. So, we have to build on that.”

This mentality has translated directly into results. The Lakers finished the month with a 15-2 record, firmly atop the Western Conference. In the process, Doncic also reached another personal milestone, becoming the third youngest player in league history to reach 15,000 career points, behind only LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

While the numbers are staggering, what matters most is the timing. As the playoffs approach, Doncic isn't just playing ball. The team he led reached its peak at just the right moment.
