Star Poirier named AHL Goaltender of the Month for MarchTheAHL.com

Springfield, Massachusetts …the American Hockey League announced today Remy Poirier The Texas Stars were selected AHL Goaltender of the Month March.
Poirier won seven of nine calls in March, averaging 33.8 shots per game with a 2.27 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage.
Poirier led the Stars to consecutive wins in Chicago, making 28 saves on March 7 and 26 shots on March 8 before winning in a shootout. He allowed just two goals in a loss to Bakersfield on March 13, and in the third period of the rematch on March 14, he stopped 37 shots on goal by the Condors and had a buzzer beater. Poirier has made 40+ saves in three of his last four starts, tying his mark this month. He set a career high with 43 blocks in a 2-1 win over San Jose on March 31.
Poirier has a record of 23 wins, 17 draws and 4 losses this season, averaging 2.62 goals per game, a save percentage of 0.913, and two saves. He is tied for first in the league with 44 appearances and ranks first with 1,161 saves. The 24-year-old from Farnham, Que., who was drafted by Dallas in the sixth round of the 2020 NHL Draft, compiled a 66-49-12 record, a 2.78 GAA, a .908 save percentage and six shutouts in 129 AHL games over four seasons with the Stars.
