Augustin joins Griffins | TheAHL.com

Grand Rapids Griffins sign goaltender Trey Augustine Participate in amateur trials for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

Augustin also signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Detroit Red Wings, starting in the 2026-27 season.

A second-round pick by the Red Wings in the 2023 NHL Draft, Augustin finished his junior season at Michigan State with a 24-9-1 record, a 2.11 goals-against average, a .929 save percentage and three shutouts, being named the Big Ten Goaltender of the Year and a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.

The South Lyon, Mich., native compiled a 66-25-7 record with a 2.40 GAA, .922 save percentage and nine shutouts in his three years at Michigan State.

Internationally, Augustine won two gold medals (2024, 2025) and a bronze medal (2023) with Team USA at the IIHF World Junior Championships, as well as a bronze medal and a silver medal at the U-18 World Championships.
