LeBron James looks to future during All-Star weekend: 'I want to survive'

Questions surrounding LeBron James' future have lingered throughout his season and resurfaced again during the All-Star break.
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar, now entering his 23rd year in the league, made it clear that no firm decision has been made on his next activities or timing.
James' current contract expires at the end of this season, giving him the option to test free agency this offseason.
Whether this also opens the door to retirement remains unanswered. Speaking at the annual All-Star press conference, James reiterated that he's not ready to set a timetable yet.
“Yeah, I mean, I want to live. When I know it, you guys will know it,” James said. “I don't know. I don't know. I just want to survive. That's all.”
While uncertainty remains, James is more willing to discuss what life will look like after his career is over.
The 41-year-old stressed that family and relationships will be at the center of whatever happens next.
“No. I think all I want to do at 45, 50 and 55 is create a great atmosphere and have fun with my family and friends,” he said. “Creating lasting memories is one of my passions. It's definitely the most important to me, creating something we'll never forget. My family and friends are all looking forward to this.”
James was also asked if owning an NBA team would still be a goal once his career is over, an idea he has publicly discussed in the past. His answer again reflected flexibility rather than commitment.
“There's a lot of things I can take advantage of if I want to, and this is one of them,” James said. “I'm also going to continue to explore other ventures and see what appeals to me and inspires me after my career is over. For now, I'm still focused on what's going on with our season right now and that's what's on my mind.”
