LeBron James looks back on MSG moment as it could be his last

The Los Angeles Lakers gave up their only trip to New York this season, losing 112-100 to the New York Knicks, but the result seemed minor at the time.

James finished with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists on 9-for-15 shooting, although a sluggish third quarter took its toll.

After the game, James opened up about what it meant to step onto the floor at Madison Square Garden, especially with no certainty of how many chances he had left.

“Everything. I mean, this is the mecca of basketball in New York City,” James said in an interview with Spectrum SportsNet. Advertisement

James also thanked New York fans, praising a fan base that has long been considered one of the most knowledgeable in sports.

“Really cool guy. I've always loved the fans here, loved New York. Always respect,” James continued. “They have a wealth of knowledge about the game of basketball and sports in general. They know what sports are all about. They know when they're going to see something cool, so I just reciprocate the respect.”

Madison Square Garden's reputation as “the most famous arena in the world” is built on moments like this, and James has created many of them over the years.

Whether this is his last appearance on the floor remains to be seen, but his words will only fuel speculation.
