Sabers acquire Bayreuth, sending Nuczew to Hurricanes | TheAHL.com

Buffalo Sabers acquire linebacker Gavin Bayreuther Acquired from Carolina Hurricanes for Forward Victor Nyuchev.

Bayreuth has played 33 games for the AHL Chicago Wolves this season, scoring 4 goals and 9 assists.

The nine-year pro has appeared in 271 games in the AHL with Chicago, Texas and Cleveland, scoring 29 goals and 101 assists for 130 points. In the 2017-18 season, he reached the Calder Cup finals with Texas as a rookie.

Bayreuth also played 122 games in the NHL with Dallas and Columbus, scoring 5 goals, 23 assists and 28 points.

Nuchef, Buffalo's third-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, is in his third season in North America and played 34 games with the AHL's Rochester Americans in 2025-26, recording six goals and 10 assists.

The 22-year-old forward totaled 24 goals and 42 assists for 66 points in 130 AHL games with Team America.
