Star Poirier named AHL Player of the Week TheAHL.com

Springfield, Massachusetts … American Hockey League announces Texas Stars goaltender today Remy Poirier has been selected as Howies Hockey Video/AHL Player of the Week For the period ending January 11, 2026.
Poirier faced 60 shots in his two starts for the Stars last week, saving 59 of them, with a goals-against average of 0.50 and a save percentage of 0.983.
Poirier made 29 saves in helping Texas to a 2-0 victory over Grand Rapids on Friday night, handing the Griffins their first regular-season loss in seven weeks. Then on Saturday, Poirier saved 30 shots in a 3-1 win over Chicago, extending his shutout streak to nearly 115 minutes, before conceding a goal in the third period.
Poirier was a player selected by Dallas in the sixth round of the 2020 NHL Draft. He has played 24 times for the Texas team this season, with a record of 10 wins, 10 draws and 4 losses, a goals against average of 2.57, a save percentage of 0.911, and 2 shutouts. He ranks second in the AHL in playing time (1,355 minutes) and save time (591 times). The 24-year-old native of Farnham, Que., appeared in 109 AHL games in four seasons with the Stars, compiling a 53-42 record, a 2.79 GAA, a .907 save percentage and six shutouts.
