Griffins' Kosar named Goaltender of the Month for December TheAHL.com

Springfield, Massachusetts …the American Hockey League announced today Sebastian Cosa Grand Rapids Griffins selected AHL Goaltender of the Month December.
Kosar went 7-0-1 with a 1.76 goals-against average, 0.929 save percentage and two shutouts in eight starts in December as Grand Rapids continues to set a new benchmark for the best start in league history. He became the first player since Logan Thompson in February and March 2021 to win consecutive AHL Goaltender of the Month awards.
On December 3, Cosa made 30 saves in a 4-1 victory over Cleveland and made 20 saves in a 1-0 victory over Rockford on December 13. On December 27, in a 3-0 win over Milwaukee, Kosar blocked all 26 shots and provided his first assist of the season, marking his tenth consecutive game in front of the net. The Griffins ended December with a 16-game winning streak and an overall record of 26-1-1, the franchise's best finish through 29 games in the 90-year history of the American Hockey League.
Cosa, Detroit's first-round selection (15th overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft, is 15-1-1 in 17 starts this season and leads the AHL in wins, goals against average (1.65), save percentage (0.936) and shutout percentage (4). The 23-year-old from Hamilton, Ont., has made 101 career appearances for Grand Rapids, compiling a 59-26-15 record, a 2.37 GAA, a .913 save percentage and seven shutouts. Kosar has played one game for the Red Wings and earned a win in his NHL debut on December 9, 2024 in Buffalo.
