Griffins' Dries named AHL Player of the Week TheAHL.com

Springfield, Massachusetts …American Hockey League announced today Grand Rapids Griffins forward Sheldon Dries has been selected as Howies Hockey Video/AHL Player of the Week Period ending December 21, 2025.
Dries scored two goals in three games last week, totaling six points and a +8 rating to help the Griffins continue their best start to a season in the AHL's 90-year history.
Dries dished out two assists as visiting Grand Rapids erased a two-goal deficit and beat Iowa State 5-2 on Wednesday night. In Friday's rematch with the Wild, Dries scored a goal and provided an assist to help the Griffins win 6-2. Dries made his third straight two-pointer in the game on Sunday, scoring a goal and assist as Grand Rapids beat Cleveland 5-0.
Driss played 22 games for Grand Rapids this season, contributing 9 goals and 13 assists, scoring 22 points. The team achieved 14 consecutive victories during the Christmas holiday, with a total record of 25 wins, 1 draw, 0 draws and 1 loss.
A native of Macomb, Mich., and a former captain at Western Michigan University, Dries is in his second season with the Detroit Red Wings and ninth of his career. He played 361 AHL games in his career with Grand Rapids, Abbotsford, Colorado and Texas, totaling 147 goals and 119 assists for 266 points. He also had 16 goals and 10 assists in 122 games in the National Hockey League with Colorado and Vancouver.
