Steve Nash tells hilarious story about Stephen Curry's forced retirement

Steve Nash shared a great story about how Steph Curry forced him to realize it was time to ride off into the sunset.

The Suns legend spent his final two seasons in the league with the Lakers, and by that point, his 16th season had already begun to make an impact.

Nash talked about a preseason game between the Lakers and the Warriors in 2013, a game he played to see if he could still be productive.

“We go to Ontario, California or wherever and have preseason games with these guys,” Nash said on Mind the Game. “I don't even remember this. I was guarding Steph Curry. I think they went 50 in the first quarter. Maybe 45, but it felt like 50, right? He was running all over the place. I was like, bad back. Even if I was 100 percent, I probably wouldn't be able to I can't stop him. And now I'm like dragging Steve Kerr into every move. I'm looking at Steve like come on Steve and he's smiling at me, too, and Alvin Gentry is laughing at me like, “No, let's see what you get. “I thought, man, I thought about it for three or four days, and I was like, 'Yeah, I think it's time.' ” [to retire]. That's it. I called Mitch Kupchak. “

Nash added, “You should let me pasture a little bit, let me retire a little bit. It's not something I like to talk about in public.

“When he came into the league, I still felt like I was a little bit like the big brother and I still felt like I had the upper hand here.

“Then he started to be himself and the pendulum shifted.”
